JORDANBOLTONDESIGN - OBJECTIFIED ON FILM
OBJECTIFIED ON FILM
HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORK?
Photographic Film Posters.
WHAT DOES YOUR ART FOCUS ON?
The minute detail within films. My two currentseries ‘Objects’ and ‘Rooms’ are made byrecreating objects or rooms from a certain filmwhich are then neatly arranged against a single colour background, allowing the viewer to have a kind of alternative viewing experience of afilm by representing it only through its colorsand themes rather than it’s plot or characters.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
Manchester, UK.
WHEN DID YOU JOIN INSTAGRAM?
October 2015.
WHAT TRIGGERS YOUR IMAGINATION?
Anything from fashion to comic books to architecture to something I overheard on the train. I very rarely get ideas from seeing things relating to design or posters, it’s mainly me seeing something
interesting and trying to figure out how that can beincorporated into a poster.
HOW DID INSTAGRAM MAKE YOUR WORK EVOLVE?
I think because I only update my Instagramwith my finished works it functions as a kind ofportfolio and allows me to look at all my work at once which gives me a clear idea of what I’ve done and what I feel I want to do next. It also allows people who like my work to easily view all my work at once and be updated when I put out anything new.
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH?
I am mainly independent but do the odd commission for places I personally really like, such as numerous venues in Manchester’s city center and L.A.’s Museum of Broken Relationships.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU POST?
I post every time I release a new poster, which is around once every two weeks.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST LIKED ARTWORK/ PHOTO?
My object poster for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO?
I’m pretty much always listening to music. A lot of the time the music I am listening to is related to the poster I am working on as I usually makea playlist of songs that feature in the film or were recorded during the time the film was set just togive me an extra atmosphere.
WHAT ARE YOUR LATEST PROJECTS OR COLLABORATIONS?
Right now I am working on a few projects simultaneously, such as my Objects series and Rooms series while also planning my next series which will hopefully be out in early 2017.
HOW CAN SOMEONE REACH YOU?
My main contact is my email: jordanboltondesign@ gmail.com but I can also be easily messaged on Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook.
